Aechmea recurvata 'Blackie' is a cultivar derived from recurvata 'Benrathii', featuring a strikingly dark, almost black base. This clump-forming plant maintains a compact size, reaching a height of around six inches or less. The flowering bud emerges from the center cup, staying relatively close to the middle leaves, and eventually blooms with beautiful violet-colored flowers. 'Blackie' is highly attractive, whether it is in bloom or not, thanks to its captivating foliage and unique coloration.
